UNION LAKE, Mich. – (November 3, 2021) – Minot State University takes over the top spot in the 2021-2022 American Collegiate Hockey Association Men’s Division 1 Ranking No. 6, as the ranking system switches to a computer poll from a coaches poll.  The Beavers were idle this past weekend and remain undefeated on the season with a record of 4-0-0.

No. 2 Lindenwood University (8-0-0), the other undefeated team in Men’s Division I, went on the road and swept Roosevelt University at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Ill. in a pair of conference games while No. 3 Liberty University (7-2-0) was idle.  No. 4 Stony Brook University moved up three spots after sweeping conference foe New York University in a home-and-home series to improve to 9-1-0 on the season.  Rounding out the Top 5 was University of Central Oklahoma (9-2-0), which was idle this past weekend.

Moving into the polls this week is No. 15 University of Utah, No. 18 New York University, No. 20 Villanova University, and No. 22 University of Alabama.  Dropping out of the Top 25 are Robert Morris University, Calvin University, Drexel University, and University of Illinois.

The Central States Collegiate Hockey League with three (of 5) of its member teams ranked and the Western Collegiate Hockey League with six (of 10) of its member teams ranked lead the way, while the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has four (of 7) of its member teams ranked, the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League has three (of 6) of its member teams ranked, and the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League has two (of 7) of its member teams ranked.

With the ACHA switching to a computer-based ranking from a coaches poll, the ACHA will use the two computer rankings generated by USHSHO.com, Ranking A (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 7) and Ranking B (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 1), and come up with an average of the two rankings.  The ACHA will then use the list generated from the average for its weekly ranking.  Ties will be broken using the higher ranked team from Ranking B until the Top 25 teams are listed.  All games that go to overtime will be scored as ties in the computer ranking.
