Oswego State hockey team wins playoff title

OSWEGO — The Oswego State men’s club hockey team beat Canisius, 5-2, to win its first Northeast Collegiate Hockey League playoff championship Sunday at the Deborah F. Stanley Arena.

The Lakers (23-9 overall) advanced to the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I national tournament scheduled to begin March 7.

Oswego advanced to the final with an 8-0 victory over The College of New Jersey Friday night in the same location.

Oswego’s club team is in its 19th year overall. Earlier this season, they secured the program wins record and the first regular-season conference title in team history.
