TROY, Mich. – (February 18, 2025) – Liberty University (16-3-0-0) holds onto the No. 1 spot in this week’s ranking of the 2024-2025 American Collegiate Hockey Association Women’s Division 1 season. Capping off our top 5 is Midland University (25-6-1-0).

This weekend is conference play. The three Women’s Division One conferences do receive an automatic bid to the National Tournament. If a team is not in the top 12, that team will take the 12th spot for the tournament.

The WMCH teams will head to St. Louis for games hosted by McKendree Metro Rec Plex. Games will begin on Thursday, February 20th with the Championship game being played at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 22nd.

The CCWHA teams will head to Livonia, Michigan. Games will be played at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena. Games begin on Thursday, February 20th and the Championship game will be played on Sunday, February 23rd.

The WWCHL will head to Arizona for their conference tournament. They will play games at AZ Ice Gilbert. Games will begin on Friday, February 21st with the Championship game being played on Sunday, February 23rd.

The Women’s Midwest College Hockey League has seven (of 8) member teams ranked, while the Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association has six (of 12) of its member teams ranked, and the Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League has zero (of 6).

The computer ranking will determine the 12 teams that qualify for the 2024 ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championships, which will include the following three automatic bids:

  • (CCWHA) Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association
  • (WWCHL) Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League
  • (WMCHL) Women’s Midwest College Hockey League

A total of 33 teams are competing in Women’s Division 1 this season, including one new full member team, University of Arizona, and a probationary member, University of Washington.

The ACHA uses two computer rankings, Ranking A (Wins with goal differential of 6) and Ranking B (Wins with maximum goal differential of 1) to come up with an average of the two rankings, which determines the ranking spots for teams.

There has been a total of 10 schools that have won the ACHA Women’s Division 1 National Championship:

  • St. Cloud State
  • Wisconsin (2 Times)
  • Michigan State (2)
  • Robert Morris (2)
