AMERICAN COLLEGIATE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES ROSTER FOR WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY TEAM CANADA

TEAM SET TO COMPETE IN 2023 WORLD CUP OF UNIVERSITY HOCKEY IN ROMANIA

TROY, Mich. – (February 15, 2023) – The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) announced the 23-player roster for ACHA Team Canada that will compete in the 2023 World Cup of University Hockey, April 14-19, 2023 in Cârța, Romania.

 

The complete roster, which includes three goaltenders, seven defensemen and thirteen forwards, is comprised of one graduate student, six seniors, six juniors, four sophomores, and six freshmen.

 

Minot State University leads all schools with five representatives on the team, while Adrian College has four representatives, Ohio University has three representatives, University of Jamestown, Liberty University, and University of Nevada-Las Vegas each have two representatives, and Calvin University, University of Central Oklahoma, Maryville University, Missouri State University, and Niagara University each have one representative.

 

Five provinces are represented on the roster, led by British Columbia and Ontario with six representatives each, Followed by Alberta with five representatives, while Saskatchewan and Manitoba each have three representatives.

 

Up front, Canada will look for goal scoring from freshman phenomenon Luc Reeve (Kingston, Ont./Ohio University), the nation’s leading scorer with 32 goals, 40 assists, and 72 total points in 31 games played, and Matteo DiGiulio (Maple, Ont./Adrian College), 24 goals, 17 assists, and 41 total points in 31 games played.  Playmakers Carter Barley (St. Andrews, Man./Minot State University), who has 33 assists, 18 goals, and 51 total points in 28 games played, and Jacob Siebenga (Surrey, B.C./Calvin University), who has 36 assists, 16 goals, and 52 total points in 27 games played, will look to setup teammates for opportunities.

 

Defensively, averaging a height of 6’1” and 195 pounds, the squad will look to wear its opponents down physically.  The trio of J.C. Dubecky (Regina, Sask./University of Central Oklahoma), 19 assists, 7 goals, and 26 total points in 32 games played, Greg Susinski (Calgary, Alta./University of Jamestown), 14 assists, 10 goals, and 24 total points in 26 games played, and Timon Prexler (Coquitlam, B.C./Maryville University), 16 assists, 7 goals, and 23 total points in 26 games played, will look to push the puck out of the zone for a quick strike attack.

 

Noah Decottignies (Adrian College), who is Top 5 statistically in wins (20), games played (24), goals against average (1.51), and save percentage (93.9%), will lead the trio of goaltenders whom all hail from the hockey hotbed of Calgary, Alberta, also known as Stampede City.

 

NOTES:  Mike Petrusma (St. Thomas, Ont.) is serving as head coach of the 2023 ACHA Team Canada alongside assistant coaches Jeremy Law (Penticton, B.C.) and Geoffrey Beauparlant (Georgetown, Ont.) … At the 2023 World Cup of University Hockey, ACHA Team Canada is competing in Group B alongside host nation Romania, Poland, and Czech Republic … All games from the 2023 World Cup of University Hockey will be played at the Felcsíki Ice Skating Rink in Cârța and will be streamed live worldwide.
