Cougars Sweep Ramblers on First Road Weekend

The women’s hockey team travelled to Evanston, IL, for their first set of road games against Loyola University-Chicago.

Captain Marie-Pier Lecours opened the scoring one minute into the game, and rookie forward Materia Land followed up with a second goal shortly after. The Cougars had multiple scoring opportunities, but the Ramblers held them to only two goals in the first 20 minutes.

The Cougars came out flying in the second period, scoring eight goals before the intermission. They continued to find the back of the net in the third for a 14-0 victory over the Ramblers. Goals were scored by Emily Moore, Jenna Jackson, Zoe Weaver, Emma Lee (3), Meagan Daley (2), Jasmine Groleau (2), Alyssa Byers, and Jacinta Eshkakogan. Farrah Farstad recorded her second shutout of the season.

On Saturday, the Cougars started where they left off Friday evening, scoring five goals in the first 20 minutes of play. The door remained shut for the Ramblers with Riley Richardson between the pipes for the Cougars in their 20-0 win. Emily Brunet, Daley (2), Moore, Land (3), Lee (2), Williams, Weaver, Lecours (2), Groleau (2), Byers (3), Lamont, and Lucas scored for the Cougars.

The next action for the Cougars (4-0-0) is on Friday, November 3rd when they host Niagara University’s Division 1 team. Puck drop is set for 9:00 pm at the Northern Community Centre.
