All four institutions currently field ACHA teams, with Drury University and Northern Arizona University competing at the Men’s Division II level while Northwood University and Saginaw Valley State University compete in Men’s Division III. Northwood University and Saginaw Valley State University have been accepted as members of the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) while Northern Arizona University has been accepted as a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL). Drury University will begin play as an independent.
“We’re excited to accept these four institutions into Men’s Division 1 for the 2024-2025 season,” said Craig Barnett, ACHA Executive Director. “Just five seasons ago, we only had 60 teams playing at the Men’s Division I level, including eight teams in Michigan, and now we are up to 12 teams with the additions of Northwood University and Saginaw Valley State University. By adding Drury University and Northern Arizona University, we are continuing our mission to grow the game west of the Mississippi River at the Men’s Division I level.”
With the addition of Drury University, Northern Arizona University, Northwood University, and Saginaw Valley State University, there will be a total of 76 teams playing ACHA Men’s Division 1 in 24 states during the 2024-2025 season.
