MINOT STATE UNIVERSITY MOVES INTO TIE WITH UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA-LAS VEGAS ATOP THE AMERICAN COLLEGIATE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION MEN’S DIVISION I RANKINGS
Rebels (3-0-0) and Beavers (6-0-0) Undefeated to Start Season
UNION LAKE, Mich. – (October 19, 2022) – University of Nevada-Las Vegas (3-0-0) and Minot State University (6-0-0) received 18 and 11 first-place votes respectively out of 33 total votes to tie for the top spot of the 2022-2023 ACHA Men’s Division I Ranking #2. The Rebels traveled to Alaska for a pair of games with NCAA Division I University of Alaska Anchorage, its third NCAA Division I game of the young season. The Rebels were unable to come away with a win (8-0, 2-1) but will be seeking revenge on the Seawolves in the rematch at City National Arena in Las Vegas, NV on November 16. Meanwhile in Minot, ND, the Beavers thrashed Midland University (11-2, 14-1) to move into the tie for the No. 1 slot. It’s the Beavers first time atop the polls since week 7 of the 2021-2022 season. No. 3 Adrian College (5-0-1) and No. 5 Liberty University (4-3-0) squared off at Arrington Ice Arena in Adrian, Mich., the Flames second top 5 matchup in as many weeks. On Friday, Lazarus Kaebel was able to tie the game for Liberty with only seven seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime. After neither team was able to score in overtime, Jason Foltz notched the only goal of the shootout for the Flames triumph. Saturday, the Bulldogs were able to bounce back with a solid 6-2 victory as Dylan Gajewski notched the hat trick to go along with an assist for a four-point night. Standing pat at No. 4 was idle University of Central Oklahoma (5-2-0) while No. 6 Stony Brook University (4-0-0) received the remaining two first-place votes and defeated NCAA Division III Manhattanville College 4-3 in an overtime shootout.
Moving into the polls this week is No. 22 Calvin University and No. 25 Grand Valley State University. Dropping out of the Top 25 are University of Rhode Island and University of Illinois.
The Central States Collegiate Hockey League leads the way with two (of 3) of its member teams ranked, while the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League has five (of 8) of its member teams ranked, the Western Collegiate Hockey League has six (of 10) of its member teams ranked, and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has four (of 7) of its member teams ranked.
Over the past 19 seasons, 12 different schools have won the ACHA Men’s Division I National Championship: Lindenwood (4), Central Oklahoma (2), Illinois (2), Minot State (2), Adrian (2), Arizona State, Davenport, Delaware, Oakland, Ohio, Penn State, and Rhode Island.
Entering its 32nd season of action, there have been a total of 14 schools that have won the ACHA Men’s Division I National Championship:

- Lindenwood University (4)
- Ohio University (4)
- Adrian College (2)
- Minot State University (2)
- North Dakota State University (2)
- University Central Oklahoma (2)
- University of Illinois (2)
- Arizona State University

A total of 70 teams will compete in Men’s Division I this season, including these new members: College of New Jersey, University of Oregon, Purdue University Northwest, and San Diego State University. The defending Men’s Division I National Champions of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, Lindenwood University, has departed to play NCAA Men’s Division I while Iowa State University is on a school suspension for the 2022-23 season.
The computer ranking, which will not commence until after November 1, will for the ninth time determine the 20 teams that qualify for the 2023 ACHA Men’s Division I National Championships, which will include the following eight auto bids:

- (ESCHL) Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League
- (GLCHL) Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League
- (MCH) Midwest College Hockey

- (WCHL) Western Collegiate Hockey League
- (WHAC) Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference
The third ranking of the regular season will be released on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
The 2023 ACHA Men’s Division I National Championships will be hosted March 16-21 for the first time at the New England Sports Center (NESC) in Marlborough, Mass. This will be the eleventh year of the 20-team format.
