Women’s D1 Day 2 Recap

TROY, Mich. – (March 17, 2023) – The American Collegiate Hockey Association wraps up day two of the Women’s DI 2023 National Tournament presented by FloHockey.

In the first game of the day, No. 9 University of Michigan took on No. 8 ranked McKendree University. The Wolverines scored first in the first period. The goal was scored by Erin Proctor, with the assist from Megan Mathews. The Bearcats would tie it up in the second period. The goal was scored by Juliana Davis, with assists from Kiley Hasenfratz, and Kerstyn Barron. This game would head to overtime. Kerstyn Barron would score the game winner in overtime with the assist from Jaynee Smothers. The goal was scored just 3:35 into the overtime period. Final: University of Michigan 1, McKendree University 2

No. 10 ranked Miami University took on No. 7 Arizona State University  in our second game of the day. The Redhawks scored first. The goal was scored by Cailin Schwarzer with the assist to Natalie Farrell. The Sun Devils answered by scoring 9 minutes later. The goal was scored by Sydney Paulsen, with assists from Sam Murphy and Logan Sutera. The first period would end tied 1-1. There were no goals scored in the second period. Miami would score twice in the third period. The goals were scored by Lexi Laskonis with the assist from Sydeny Schuler, and Abby Benjamin, with the assist from Emma Heinig. Arizona State would score one more time. The goal was scored by Hayley Martin with assists from Madelyn Pladson and Britney Bridel. Final: Miami University 3, Arizona State University 2

Today’s winners will join the other 6 teams to move onto Saturday. Saturday’s matchups are: #4 Adrian College vs #5 Indiana Tech at 10:00 am, #3 Minot State University vs #6 Maryville University at 1:00 pm, #2 Midland University vs #8 McKendree University, and #1 Liberty University vs #10 Miami University.
