Women’s Division 2 Announces Community Service Award Winner

Troy, MI. (4/16/24): The Women's Division 2 of the American Collegiate Hockey Association is proud to announce that their 2023/2024 Community Service Award Winner is Sault College.

The Cougars were heavily involved this past season helping to develop hockey with the youth in the area.  The team spent countless hours on the ice with various groups, including the Sault Female Hockey Association and Hockey Canada Skills Academy, focusing on grades 5th-8th.  Not only were the players able to provide their hockey experiences to the players but served as positive role models for the aspiring young athletes.  Sault also organized skills competitions during the Northern Ontario girls' hockey tournaments to help showcase the next generation of female hockey players.

Sault College was also involved with several community events and initiatives.  The players and staff helped with the Christmas Cheer toy drive, the Bon Soo community event, and the International Learn to Skate Day.  The Cougars helped to promote cultural diversity by engaging with francophone athletes through school visits, where they encouraged them to embrace their language and heritage.

Sault College, along with the other four Division winners are the finalists for the ACHA National Community Service Award for the 2023/2024 season.  The winner will be announced later this month.
